Michael Stone, BS Chem Eng, MBA

Creator of NeuroDynamic Breathwork® and founder of the NeuroDynamic Institute. International Speaker. Michael leads the program and teaches the foundational principles of the NeuroDynamic Breathwork® method.

Michael Stone, BS Chem Eng, MBA, is the founder of the NeuroDynamic Institute and the creator of NeuroDynamic Breathwork®, a science-based breathwork modality designed to help people release stress, heal emotional patterns, and reconnect with what he calls their Inner Guiding Intelligence.

He is also one of the trainers in the NeuroDynamic Breathwork® Facilitator Training Program, a six-month professional training offered through the NeuroDynamic Institute.

The program integrates personal transformation, breathwork facilitation skills, neuroscience-informed principles, and trauma-aware facilitation practices.

More than 300 facilitators have completed the training and are now leading breathwork sessions in communities around the world.

Michael has guided tens of thousands of participants from more than 120 countries through NeuroDynamic Breathwork® sessions.

Michael holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California (USC).

After spending the first 35 years of his life following a conventional career path, he left his position as an upper-level executive at a multi-billion-dollar pharmaceutical company to pursue entrepreneurship, eventually creating several successful multi-million-dollar businesses.

His scientific background and entrepreneurial experience later influenced the development of the NeuroDynamic Breathwork® method and the structure of the facilitator training program.

Michael was born and currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

Michael discovered breathwork in 2005 and experienced firsthand how breath and music can quiet the thinking mind and allow access to deeper layers of the psyche.
He later completed facilitator training in Holotropic Breathwork®, becoming a certified facilitator. During his training, many of the classes were led by Dr. Stanislav Grof, the founder of Holotropic Breathwork®.
Michael has now been working with breathwork for nearly two decades, guiding individuals and groups through powerful inner exploration processes.

In 2016, during one of his own breathwork sessions, Michael experienced a powerful insight that it was his mission to bring breathwork to the world in a format that was accessible and affordable, allowing people everywhere to experience its benefits.

He spent more than a year researching and developing the technology and structure needed to make breathwork effective in an online format. The result was NeuroDynamic Breathwork®, which he launched in 2017.

Since then, the method has been practiced by participants in more than 120 countries.

In 2020, after many participants who experienced NeuroDynamic Breathwork® began asking to be trained to facilitate the work themselves, Michael created the NeuroDynamic Breathwork® Facilitator Training Program.

The training combines:
• nearly two decades of breathwork experience
• neuroscience-informed principles
• trauma-aware facilitation skills
• extensive hands-on practice guiding breathwork sessions

Participants learn how to create a safe and supportive container for powerful breathwork experiences while developing their own capacity for presence, awareness, and leadership.

Graduates of the program are now facilitating breathwork sessions in communities around the world.

Michael is a well-known international speaker who has participated in numerous conferences and global summits alongside leaders in personal development, neuroscience, and spiritual growth, including Dr. Gabor Maté, Joe Dispenza, Tony Robbins, Caroline Myss, Thomas Hübl, Dr. Stephen Porges, Dr. Peter Levine, Jack Kornfield, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ken Wilber, and Dr. Dan Siegel, among others.

NeuroDynamic Breathwork® has been featured in The London Times, Elephant Journal, Luxx Magazine, CBS, and NBC.

Michael’s mission is to make the healing power of breathwork accessible to people everywhere and to help individuals rediscover the inner intelligence that already exists within them.

He believes that when people learn to quiet the conditioned mind and reconnect with this deeper intelligence, they gain access to the clarity, creativity, and resilience needed to consciously create their lives.

Glenn Girlando, MA

Co-lead trainer and co-designer of the NeuroDynamic Breathwork® Facilitator Training Program, bringing more than three decades of experience exploring consciousness and transformational learning.

Glenn Girlando, M.A., is a breathwork facilitator, educator, and trainer with more than three decades of experience exploring the psychology of human potential, consciousness, and transformational learning.

He co-designed the Neurodynamic Breathwork® (NDB) Facilitator Training Program and has helped develop and support a global community of practitioners learning to work skillfully with breath, body awareness, and expanded states of consciousness.

Glenn first experienced Holotropic Breathwork® in 1991 and immediately recognized its powerful capacity for healing and self-exploration. He later completed professional certification in Holotropic Breathwork® through Grof Transpersonal Training, studying with Stanislav Grof and Tav Sparks and gaining extensive experience in transpersonal psychology and the facilitation of non-ordinary states of consciousness.

From 2002 to 2016 Glenn facilitated breathwork workshops throughout the Pacific Northwest and served as President of the nonprofit Breathwork Northwest, organizing and leading workshops and assisting at numerous programs with Stanislav Grof.

Over the course of his career he has facilitated more than 160 breathwork workshops and worked with hundreds of clients in individual and group settings.

Since 2018 he has helped develop Neurodynamic Breathwork®’s online programs and regularly facilitates international breathwork sessions attended by participants from around the world.

Glenn holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from Antioch University Seattle with a focus on transformational education and adult learning, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with distinction from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.

In addition to his work in breathwork, he has taught psychology courses, facilitated educational programs and workshops, and worked extensively in communications and web development, supporting organizations in translating complex ideas into meaningful learning experiences.

Alongside breathwork, Glenn has been a lifelong student of archetypal and evolutionary astrology and the broader exploration of consciousness and spiritual development. His work emphasizes creating a grounded, respectful, and supportive environment where individuals can explore deep psychological and transpersonal processes while feeling safe, empowered, and connected within a larger community of practice.

Gwen Williams, MSW, PhD

Trainer responsible for the personal development component of the program, supporting participants in their own inner transformation process.

Various initiatory experiences have been the precursors to Gwen’s continuing commitment to engage in processes and practices that help her and others move toward greater wholeness.

As a student of consciousness, her life’s path has involved assisting others who desire to expand their awareness and heal more unto wholeness.

Gwen’s journey of transformation began in her early high school days when she was initiated into the practice Transcendental Meditation. This practice profoundly altered Gwen’s limited five-sense understanding of reality and put her in direct communion with spiritual realms that are typically under our conscious radar.

Practices such as meditation and breathwork has offered access to these rich, healing, transformative states.

Gwen’s first experience of Holotropic Breathwork® was in 1988 with Dr. Stanislav Grof, MD, PhD when he offered a workshop at the University of Hawai’i. It was such a powerful experience, she told herself, that she would study with him. She couldn’t make that happen until 1995 and was in training with Stan, and facilitators Tav Sparks, Kylea Taylor, and Diane Haug until 1997, whereupon Gwen became a certified Holotropic Breathwork® facilitator. Soon after, she began to offer workshops in Hawai’i, as well as Austria and New Zealand.

Born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area, Gwen attended UC Santa Cruz for a BA in Psychology and a BA in Environmental Studies. And after a stint of living in the Netherlands, in 1983, she moved to Hawai’i for graduate school to attend a cross-culturally focused MSW degree program at University of Hawai’i at Manoa. Gwen has remained in Hawai’i ever since.

Lastly, due to her love of learning about how people transform and what may stand in the way or facilitate change, Gen was enticed to complete a doctorate program in San Francisco, CA at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) and secured a PhD in Transformative Learning and Change.

Gwen has been teaching in University of Hawaii system for 40 years and 35 of those years as the developer, coordinator and a professor in Human Services and the Certificate of Competence in Substance Use Disorders Counseling program at UH Leeward CC, Therein, she taught courses in self-exploration, counseling, parenting and fieldwork seminars.

As an LCSW, Gwen have had a private, part-time psychotherapy practice for 40 years and specialized in therapy with survivors of trauma. For almost 30 years, she have been a certified facilitator of Holotropic Breathwork® and in 2024, became certified as a Neurodynamic Breathwork® facilitator in order to continue to share her passion for healing through the breath.

It is Gwen’s great pleasure to support our students’ inner exploration and integration as they become a NDB facilitator and space holder for others. She envisions her time together with the students as a means to support them during their NDB facilitator training journey, however, the personal development content, she says, “your inner work, unique to you, and tools that you choose to incorporate, may be valuable across a lifetime”.

Guest Teacher

Specialized teachers join the program to share additional tools and perspectives.

Heidi Denkers, MA

Teaches creative integration and expressive arts approaches that support the integration process following breathwork sessions.

Heidi Denkers is a NeuroDynamic Breathwork® Facilitator, NDB Staff Member and has a Masters in Psychology with an emphasis in expressive arts therapy. She is a published poet, an artist, works with mandalas, journals regularly, plays with music, dances often and works with symbolism.

Most importantly, she believes that true creativity is within each of us and is the complete opposite of labeling someone as this or that. Often, because of upbringing, social conditioning, friends or teachers, we believe the lie that we are not talented enough to play with the arts. We let these limitations become barriers that simply do not allow us to express what we long to share of our inner selves, the voice of our inner guiding intelligence.

Heidi has experienced the power of creative expression and integration by overcoming her own life challenges through her art. She inspires everyone around her to do the same and teaches just how to do it – through play and joyful creative integration.

Once a month on our community platform, Heidi supports subscribers in exploring a different life theme with creative integration through play, words, movement, color, symbolism, music and more with our wonderful subscribers! This interactive Creative Integration Lab is one of her favorite courses.

As someone who is passionate about learning, Heidi is a great fit as a guest teacher in the NeuroDynamic Breathwork® Facilitator Training Program. She joins to cover three different topics. Heidi gives an introduction in using the expressive arts to help support integration after a breathwork session. She covers Mandalas & shares non-directive tools to help support working with them. Lastly she offers somatic tools for recognizing trauma symptoms and helping clients/breathers re-ground after a session.

Training Coaches & Mentors

These experienced facilitators support trainees throughout the program through coaching, guidance, and community support. Each of these facilitators completed the NeuroDynamic Breathwork® training themselves and now guide new trainees as they develop their facilitation skills.

Karen Nitsche

“Facilitating is such an honor, to provide a space that encourages nourishment for others is what brings me joy. I’m driven to create sessions that give people a chance to explore their bodies, nourish their souls & reconnect to their power within. ”

In 2018, Karen discovered Holotropic Breathwork®, a powerful practice that ultimately changed the course of her life. This transformative experience prompted her to delve deeper into all things Breathwork while being in Los Angeles where she met Michael Stone in 2019.

Karen became a certified Neurodynamic Breathwork® facilitator by completing NDB’s first cohort in 2020. Since then, she joined our Breathwork Online team and has been sharing Embodied Movement and Breathe&Reset every Tuesday. She has been working as a Coach on the Neurodynamic Breathwork® Training Program since 2022.

In addition to Breathwork, she is trained in a wide range of movement and healing modalities such as : Contemporary dance, Contact Improvisation, Authentic movement, QiGong, Yoga, Somatics among others. Learn more about Karen Nitsche here: www.karennitsche.com

Marcela Krejci

Supports trainees through coaching and personal guidance, helping them deepen their self-awareness and integrate the principles of NeuroDynamic Breathwork® facilitation.

Marcela says that her personal transformation began 17 years ago when she became a mother. She shares that the birth of her children brought a profound shift in how she saw the world, deepening her sense of connection, love, and responsibility. Around the same time, she experienced the painful loss of a close family member—an event that challenged many of her previous assumptions about life and its meaning.

Together, these experiences became a turning point, inspiring her to confront her limitations, explore the deeper dimensions of life, and connect with the spiritual aspects of her existence. “They taught me the importance of presence, self-awareness, and inner resilience—lessons that continue to guide my work today”.

In 2013, Marcela began formal studies in yoga and holistic health, becoming a certified Yoga Instructor and Holistic Health Coach. A few years later, she discovered Holotropic Breathwork®, and her first experience with an expanded state of consciousness opened a new direction in Marcela’s journey. After several years of study and personal practice, she completed her certification as a NeuroDynamic Breathwork® facilitator in 2021.

Today, Marcela leads NeuroDynamic Breathwork® workshops, supporting participants in exploring their inner world and developing greater self-awareness. She also guides trainees as a training coach and contribute behind the scenes as part of the admin team, helping create safe and supportive spaces for personal growth and exploration.

“I believe that cultivating our own inner garden is one of the most powerful ways to bring meaningful change to ourselves and the world around us.”

Agnieszka Regula

She is a qualified Neurodynamic Breathwork® Facilitator, Bodywork Therapist, Coach & Conscious Living Teacher. She weaves all these threads together, with her ongoing studies and lived experience in individual sessions, group events, and international retreats. Her work honors the interconnectedness of body, mind, and soul, offering a space to deepen self-connection, awaken a greater sense of aliveness, and live with soul integrity.

In 2018, she co-founded a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness of psychedelic-assisted therapeutic modalities. Over the years, she has had the privilege of collaborating with leading researchers and pioneers, including the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Imperial College London.

What ties all of her experience together is endless curiosity, inclusivity and exploration over a fixed perspective. As a coach in the Facilitator Training Program, she is honored to support aspiring facilitators on their path. She holds each person’s courageous journey with deep respect and is devoted to fostering a more compassionate world rooted in trust and heart-led connection.

Fiona Burke

Supports trainees as they develop their facilitation skills, helping them integrate breathwork practice with emotional awareness and embodied presence.

Born and raised in the west of Ireland, Fiona in recent years returned to the quiet rhythms of the Irish countryside after many years of wandering. Her work weaves together a broad range of training and lived experience, grounded in a deep respect for the human story.

She is a Relationship Mentor registered with the Irish Association for Relationship Mentors, she has a special interest in the parent – child relationship. Her practice is rooted in Attachment Theory, Infant Mental Health and Interpersonal Neurobiology. A certified massage therapist, yoga teacher, and NeuroDynamic Breathwork® facilitator, she recognises the deep link between the mind and body as essential for healing and integration.

Her greatest teacher is her 8-year-old daughter, who continually reminds her of the profound power of presence and connection. Driven by a lifelong curiosity about the stories we carry and how they shape us, her approach is rooted in trust and the belief that each person holds an innate capacity to grow, heal, and return to themselves.

Fiona facilitates twice-monthly our NeuroDynamic Breathwork® sessions and regular Breath & Reset Breathwork Meditation™ sessions. She coaches on our facilitator training programme, supporting new facilitators as they grow into this work.

Student Support

Behind the scenes, dedicated team members help ensure that every participant feels supported throughout the training journey.

Tim Wright

Supports student engagement and helps maintain a sense of connection within the training community so no participant moves through the program alone.

Tim discovered breathwork in 2019 and it changed everything.

Like many people who find their way to Neurodynamic Breathwork®, he wasn’t just looking for a technique. He was looking for something real. Something that could reach the parts of him that ordinary conversation and conventional approaches couldn’t touch. What Tim shares he found was a doorway into a deeper experience of himself — and “a practice that continues to open me up in ways I never expected”.

Tim completed his Neurodynamic Breathwork® Facilitator training in 2021, and for the past several years he has had the privilege of working within the NDB community in a support role — engaging with students outside the online classroom, walking alongside them as they navigate their own journeys, and doing his best to make sure no one feels alone in the process.

Tim hold a Ph.D. in Communication, which may sound like an unlikely companion to breathwork, but he says ha has found that the deeper he goes in this practice, the more he understands about how human beings truly connect with one another and with themselves.

Tim’s wife and himself have been married for nearly 44 years. They homeschooled their four children, and now they get to watch their nine grandchildren grow. They travel the world supporting young people on their personal growth journeys, which feels like an extension of everything breathwork has taught them about what it means to show up fully present for another human being.

“That is what breathwork does. It opens us to the deeper parts of ourselves. It helps us heal. It expands our capacity to be present — to ourselves and to each other.
I am honored to be part of this community. And I am here for your journey.”
